New Email Virus Pretends to be from Kinati.com

A number of Kinati 2PDF online PDF conversion users have recently received emails that appear to be coming from the staff at Kinati headquarters. These emails are actually being generated by an email virus, w32.beagle.j@mm, or one of its variants. This virus is similar to most other email viruses, except for the fact that it "spoofs" the sender's address based on the mail server's domain name (such as Kinati.com), then inserts that domain name into the message. Here is an example of a typical message:

-------------------------------------------
Subject: Warning about your e-mail account.
Date: 03/19/2004 10:48 PM
From: k2pdf_support@kinati.com
To: kinati 2PDF Users

Dear user of "Kinati.com" mailing system,

Your e-mail account will be disabled because of improper using in next
three days, if you are still wishing to use it, please, resign your
account information.

For further details see the attach.

Sincerely,
The Kinati.com team http://www.kinati.com
-------------------------------------------

The virus uses a variety of other message variations, but most follow a similar pattern. Here are some additional examples of message text that may be used:

"Your e-mail account has been temporary disabled because of unauthorized access."

"Our main mailing server will be temporary unavaible for next two days, to continue receiving mail in these days you have to configure our free auto-forwarding service."

"Your e-mail account will be disabled because of improper using in next three days, if you are still wishing to use it, please, resign your account information."

"We warn you about some attacks on your e-mail account. Your computer may contain viruses, in order to keep your computer and e-mail account safe, please, follow the instructions."

These emails do not originate from Kinati. They are generated by the virus. Never open unidentified or unsolicited attachments, and always keep your anti-virus protection up to date!
